Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Joplin Historical Neighborhoods Museum. We greatly value members of the community who are passionate about Joplin history — our volunteers offer a level of authenticity and life to the museum experience. All volunteers will be trained in one or more areas that most interest them.

Please note that we do ask all of our volunteers to become museum members (starting at $25/year), and we require background checks of all applicants.

To help ensure a secure and trustworthy environment, we reserve the right to conduct background checks on all staff and volunteers. These checks help us identify individuals who demonstrate a strong history of responsibility, integrity, and care for others. Background checks may include criminal history and other relevant public records and will be conducted through a trusted third-party provider. All information gathered will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of evaluating eligibility to serve as a volunteer.
